Otherworldly Colours
Otherworldly Colours is an Etsy shop selling personalised gifts such as t-shirts and posters with a fantasy, science fiction or supernatural theme primarily for children.
My role
For this project, I was in charge of branding, graphic design and copywriting. I conducted market research and crafted a brand strategy and positioning angle, which were the basis for my work on the visual identity, tone of voice and overall brand expression, including the company name. I also worked on designs and copywriting for Etsy product listings.
The challenge
The challenge was creating visuals that would stand out in the over-crowded Etsy market-place and also be flexible enough to allow for future expansion of products on offer, as requested by the client.
The solution
An illustrative icon quickly signals the playful and youthful personality of the company, which a colourful and dynamic colour palette further emphasises. The scope for patterns and other illustrative elements is wide and enables the visual identity to be adaptable to a variety of collections and campaigns.
Brand activation
Otherworldly Colours could use effective brand activation techniques to foster a more personal connection with customers. As the offering mainly relies on personalisation, the company could develop bespoke collections based on customer input to boost customer satisfaction by leveraging the feeling of ownership. This brand activation initiative would be help to increase sales and build a larger community of supporters.
