Art Across
Art Across is run by an art historian as a freelancing business to create and deliver events related to art history. Sara works with artist collectives, museums and galleries in the Greater Manchester area.
My role
For this commissioned project, I was in charge of branding, graphic design and most of the copywriting. I conducted market research and crafted a brand strategy and positioning angle, which were the basis for my work on the visual identity, tone of voice and overall brand expression. I also worked on designs and copy for social media campaigns and event landing pages.
The challenge
Developing a brand identity for an innovative business with little precedent. Sara has developed a unique way of working in a variety of formats, resulting in the need for a flexible brand identity, that also conveys a clear message about what her work is.
The solution
The positioning of the brand centres around the personality and unique approach that Sara brings to her work, using Sara herself as the recognisable brand agent that connects her wide range of events and formats. This is communicated through the authenticity of her brand's tone of voice and the focus on her presence in brand imagery and messaging. The visual identity conveys Sara's desire to modernise the traditional sector she works in and is flexible enough to be adapted to the specific needs each event requires.
The result
Following her re-brand, Sara was able to successfully engage and collaborate with respected arts institutions in the North West such as The Portico Library and the Friends of the Whitworth, establishing herself as a recognised practitioner in her industry. I also worked with Sara to apply her branding messaging and visuals to launch of her year-long history of art course that successfully achieved her sales targets.
