My process
Focus
The first step of any project is to focus carefully and attentively on your requirements and goals. Depending on the project this phase would usually include: a discovery meeting and questionnaire and a follow-up call to solidify the foundations of the project and get ready for the next phases.
Research
To avoid the common pitfall of wasting time on work that doesn’t speak to your audience and isn’t relevant to your market, the crucial phase of research comes early in the process. Here, the attention shifts on gathering plenty of information about your business, industry, competitors, and target customers.
Analysis
Building on the research, I will analyse and collate the results to create our strategy framework. This could include: customer personas, positioning and key brand foundations such as vision, mission, values and purpose. The work in this step finalises the basis of your brand ready to be crafted in the next phase.
Making
Here, the attention shifts to the practical components of design and copywriting. With all the hard work behind us, in this step I'll translate the theoretical identity of your project into tangible assets that are aligned to your goals. This could include: logo, colour palette, type, tone of voice and messages.
Expressing
The final stage wraps the process up, with the production of designs and specific copywriting using the rules and assets developed in the previous phase. Here, I will also hand-off all files and, if applicable, the brand guidelines document that will serve you in the future applications of your brand, ready for take-off.
